Excellence is defined by Webster as the quality of being excellent. I am a firm believer in igniting a spark of excellence in ALL things. It is my pleasure to greet you with excitement, peace and joy! I am Carmen Willingham, the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Excellence Matters Most, Inc. located in Southfield, Michigan. Our organization is committed to "enhancing lives while enlightening minds." I am truly convinced that I have been charged with the task of improving reading, writing and public speaking literacy.
After teaching in the Detroit Public School System for fourteen years, working as a director for Oak Park Recreation Center's Youth Summer Programs, becoming Montessori certified and currently serving as an Assistant Principal for a Middle/High School, I have truly been blessed with the opportunity to reach hundreds of children. I also created the girls mentoring program, S.H.I.N.E. (Sharing Hope with Individuals Needing Encouragement). Girl, You're All That and Some, I Always Feel Like Someone is Watching Me and Youth... You Can Do It! are just a few of the workshop topics that I have developed and delivered to various groups to emphasize the importance of positive self-esteem, confidence and developing fulfilling relationships between adults and "OUR" youth.
I am humbled to have been the recipient of awards such as: The Humanitarian Award, Young Adult of the Year & The Detroit Pistons and Museum of African American History's Educators Making a Difference. |
